2005 Lake Murray Power Squadron Shake Down Cruise

Lake Murray, SC - April 2, 2005

On a Windy April day, Lake Murray Power Squadron decided it would be a good idea to have a cruise on the lake.  The plan for the day was to grill hotdogs and hamburgers and then cruise around the lake.  Mother Nature had other ideas, the wind was blowing a steady 40 mph with gust of up to 55 mph.  But you know me, I towed 90 miles from Taylors, SC and wasn't going home without going on the water.  We launched at The Boat Club a cruised over to Flotilla Island where we tied up to the dock (on the down wind side, behind some larger vessels) and didn't leave the dock until we got brave enough to go straight into the wind and back to The Boat Club.  The food was great, and there was plenty of fellowship even though no one wanted to venture away from the dock  The smarter members, of course, came by car, one with boat in tow.

Anyway, many thanks to the hospitality shown to a visiting member from the Lake Hartwell Squadron, I at least showed what we're made of.  The following pictures should give some idea of what we were dealing with and the day we had.

Thanks for the invitation, Mom!
