2004 Lake Hartwell Sail & Power Squadron Fall Color Cruise
Guntersville Lake - Oct. 1-3, 2004
It’s time to mark your calendars and make plans for this year’s Fall Color Cruise. This year will surely be a great trip. Cruisers will meet and launch at the Shellmound Recreation Area, adjacent to Nickajack Dam and accessible from Interstate 24 Exit 158.
Those who would like to sleep aboard on Friday night can meet and find an anchorage close by the park. For those who would like a land locked place to sleep on Friday night, I will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Chattanooga at Look Out Mountain. This hotel is about 20 miles from our launch site. I booked a room at a rate of $66.60 on their web site.
The Cruise will depart the Shellmound Recreation Area at 1000 on Saturday October 2, 2004. From there we will pass through the Nickajack Dam to Guntersville Lake. The cruise will continue down Guntersville Lake into Alabama. Around 1230 the cruise will make a stop for lunch. The lake, in this area, is isolated and undeveloped, so each vessel will have to pack their own food.
The day's cruise will conclude at Covenant Cove Resort (www.covenantcove.com) in Guntersville, AL. Rooms have been blocked at their standard rate of $95.00. If we fill 10 or more rooms, every room will be $80.00, so tell all your cruising buddies. The resort features a lodge, full service marina, restaurant, and lounge (featuring Martinis, Cigars, and Live Entertainment). Guntersville, AL also features many water front attractions and restaurants. Dockage is free to everyone staying at the lodge and $10 for those staying aboard (docks have power).
Sunday Morning at 0930 we will depart Covenant Cove Resort and return to Shellmound Recreation Area.
